We apologize for the delay in beginning the submission process because we were busy updating our website. We wish to welcome everyone to our new website. As always, we thank everyone for their support.
BorderSenses thanks everyone in advance for their submissions for Volume 16 of our literary journal. We seek works in poetry, fiction and nonfiction, in both Spanish and English languages. Translations are acceptable provided all rights and permissions have been granted, are also considered by our editors.
Submission period: October 4, 2009 to March 7, 2010 has ended.
Tentative publication date: June 2010

The mission of BorderSenses Literary Magazine is to provide a venue for emerging and established writers and artists of the Southwest and the U.S./Mexico border to share their words and images. BorderSenses Literary Magazine seeks a diversity of voices and artists and welcomes creativity of all genres and styles in English or Spanish.
We ask you to follow the guidelines for submission as described below:
While BorderSenses usually publishes contributors specifically from the Southwestern U.S. and northern Mexico states, for this issue, we're happy to consider contributors who prove a thematic connection to our border identity.
We typically publish writers and artists from the Southwest and U.S./Mexico border only. This means currently living or a native of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and California, as well as those living in the states of Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.

By submitting to us you agree to let us display your work on our website if your work is chosen.

Login/ Registration
BorderSenses accepts only web-based submissions.
If you have registered before please Login, and submit. All writers/artists who are new to the website must register on our website and provide all necessary information:
• Contact information (name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail) Please note: Your name in the contact information will be the name that appears in the byline and bio.
• 25-word professional bio (please adhere to word limit; we reserve the right to edit bios).
• a description of the submitter's connection to the Border Region.
Please fill all required fields. Our system is set up so that if any fields are not filled in, the submission will not go through.

Submission
Please limit submissions (poetry, fiction, non-fiction) to only two pieces per person. Any more than two submissions will be automatically rejected. After you submit, you have 48 hours to resubmit your changes. Help us do justice to your work!
Works submitted that do not meet the submission guidelines will not be accepted.
Poetry and fiction
- Submit work as text (use copy – text or type info).
- Prose should be no longer than 2500 words.
- Poetry should be no longer than 65 lines long.
Please adhere to these word/line counts.
Art and Photography
- Submit work as an attachment as either a .jpeg or .gif file.
- File size should not exceed 500k
- Resolution should be at around 150 dpi and 4 inches by 5 inches in size.
- Artwork can have the artist's signature inside the work.
