To all the immigrants of this country

Longing for my Homeland

One day I left my dear homeland.
I wanted to migrate to an unknown land.

My town in Mexico was quiet,
stone streets and a grandiose river,
gracious traditions,
considerate and close people.

In the mornings as I awoke
I would feel the freshness of the country,
dew that gave peace
as lived moments were appreciated.

My memories, my childhood,
those were left behind
next to moments
that I shall always remember.

The lack of employment
made me migrate
and it is as an immigrant that I am here
conquering new dreams.

My goals will improve every day.
Today my studies and my daughters
are my dream to fulfill.
I want to fully enjoy every place,
because that’s how life is,
it doesn’t matter the country,
what’s important is to live.

The present is here,
no more suffering I want to live,
I want to be happy
with whatever comes for me.

Homeland so dear
I could never forget you
since in ashes one day
you will see me come back.

The longing for my country
here will be captured
for any immigrant
who remembers our forgotten land.

I am enthusiastic
for thinking of you
for that I wanted to offer this longing
to you my country.
